Sounds of Cinema October 2021 Programming

October is here and that means it’s time for a month of Halloween-related programming on Sounds of Cinema. Each episode throughout October will feature a different spooky theme. Here’s what’s in store in 2021:

October 3: Horror Documentaries

Recent years have seen an impressive output of documentaries about horror films including in-depth retrospectives about specific titles, filmmakers, and franchises as well as more general documentaries about eras and subgenres. This episode will take a look at some of these horror film documentaries.

October 10: Family is Scary

Many films are about people defending their family from outside forces but filmmakers have found plenty of horror right at home. This show takes a look at some of the monstrous families, parents, and children in the movies.

October 17: Antiheroes

Some of the most popular characters at the movies are antiheroes – protagonists who lack traditional heroic qualities and motives. This episode will take a look at some of the antiheroes of classic and contemporary cinema.

October 24: Review Catch-Up/KMSU Pledge Drive

Different stations will air different programs on October 24, 2021. The horror genre has enjoyed a wealth of new titles in 2021, some that have been high profile successes and others that have passed under the radar.
