October is here and that means it’s time for a month of Halloween-related programming on Sounds of Cinema. Each episode throughout October will feature a different spooky theme. Here’s what’s in store in 2024:
31 Days of Spooky Soundtracks on Facebook
Every day throughout October Sounds of Cinema will highlight a different spooky soundtrack on the show’s Facebook page. The titles will range from classic to contemporary scores as well as soundtrack albums. Be sure to like and subscribe.
October 6: The Horror of Society
Sounds of Cinema will kick off Halloween season with a look at movies about horror and society. In some of these movies social institutions are the villain and in other cases society creates monsters.
October 13: Songs Inspired by Horror Movies
This episode will break slightly from Sounds of Cinema’s usual music format. Instead of music from the movies, this show will feature songs inspired by horror films.
October 20: Horror Sequels
Sequels are a fixture of the horror genre going all the way back to the Universal Monsters series and plenty of horror sequels and prequels are scheduled for release in 2024 and beyond. This episode will review some recent sequels as well as some classic follow ups.
October 27: Horror Movies of 2024/89.7 KMSU FM Pledge Drive
Different stations will air different programs. The episode airing on 89.5 KQAL FM in Winona, MN will catch up on reviews of some of the many horror films released throughout 2024. The episode airing on 89.7 KMSU FM in Mankato, Minnesota will be the pledge drive show.
October 31: Halloween Special
The annual Sounds of Cinema Halloween Special, featuring a mix of music and clips from scary films, will air at 11pm CST on 89.7 KMSU FM and 89.5 KQAL FM.
