Sounds of Cinema October 2026 Program Schedule

It’s time for a month of Halloween-related programming on Sounds of Cinema. Each episode throughout October will feature a different spooky theme. Here’s what’s in store in 2026:

31 Days of Spooky Soundtracks on Facebook

Every day throughout October, Sounds of Cinema will highlight a different spooky soundtrack on the show’s Facebook page. The titles will range from classic to contemporary scores as well as soundtrack albums. Be sure to like and follow so you don’t miss an update.

October 4 – Horror Movies Based on Video Games

2026 has seen a flood of movies based on video games many of them with a horrific tone. This year has also seen the release of video games based on established horror properties Halloween and Hellraiser. This episode will include reviews of Resident Evil, Exit 8, The Mortuary Assistant, and Return to Silent Hill.

October 11 – Herschell Gordon Lewis and Roger Corman at 100

2026 would have been the 100th birthday of two important figures in the history of American movies. Herschell Gordon Lewis was known at “The Godfather of Gore” and his movies Blood Feast and Two Thousand Maniacs were among the first splatter pictures. Roger Corman was a prolific director and producer whose made movies in all sorts of genres but especially horror and science fiction and his films include early works of Martin Scorsese, Sylvester Stallone, Jonathan Demme, and Jack Nicholson. This episode will look back at Lewis and Corman’s careers including an interview with Corman’s former assistant and biographer Beverly Gray.

October 18 – Creepy Crawlers

Insects, arachnids, rodents, and reptiles have been a reliable source of horror as seen in Them! and Willard and Bug. This episode will take a look back at some of these films and feature reviews of some recent creature features.

October 25 – Horror Films of 2026 / KMSU Pledge Drive Special

Different stations will air different programs. Tune into 89.5 KQAL FM in Winona to catch up on reviews of the horror films released so far in 2026. Then tune into 89.7 KMSU FM in Mankato for a special pledge drive edition of Sounds of Cinema.

October 31 – Sounds of Cinema Halloween Special

The annual Sounds of Cinema Halloween Special, featuring a mix of music and clips from scary films, will air at 12am on 89.7 KMSU FM in Mankato (Friday evening after Here There Be Dragons) and at 11pm on 89.5 KQAL FM. The show will also air on 88.5 KBEM FM. (Check back for details.) Tune in for the soundtrack to your All Hallows’ Eve.

Sounds of Cinema airs Sunday morning at 9am on 89.5 KQAL FM in Winona, Minnesota and at 11am on 89.7 KMSU FM in Mankato.
